Capturing a wedding day is always about more than just the photos; it’s about the underlying energy. When I photographed Laura and Simon’s wedding, that energy was especially palpable. Being close friends with the couple added a layer of intimacy to the day, I wasn’t just a witness with a camera, but someone who understood the history and the nuances of the people surrounding them.
We began the day at the Abdij van Park in Leuven, where we started with a private couple's shoot, popping a bottle of champagne to celebrate the start of the day in a setting that offered the perfect mix of heritage and stillness. Afterward, we transitioned to the Kruidtuin, using the lush botanical backdrop to capture a different, more vibrant atmosphere whilst their loved ones joined.
The celebration flowed naturally into the Faculty Club, which served as the backdrop for the reception. It was a day defined by a seamless shift between Leuven’s iconic historical spots and the warmth of a celebration among friends and family.
